From the classroom to the savannah
In June 2021 we took 16 Grade 8 students and 4 teachers from The Future Hope Montessori School in Vipingo on a 3-night safari at Kivuli Camp in the Rukinga Conservancy — a reward for passing their exams. The students, aged 14 to 19, come from low-income families.
They saw elephants, zebras, buffalo and a pride of lions, met the conservancy rangers, toured the Wildlife Works headquarters and made elephant dung paper with a local women's group.
Educating the next generation of conservationists
Seeing wildlife firsthand builds a personal connection that a textbook can't — helping to raise a generation of young Kenyans who see conservation as something worth protecting, not just studying.
